Position: Middle/Upper School Teacher
Grades: 6-8 and 9-12
Classification: Exempt
Grade/Subject: TBD

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a discipline closely related to subject to be taught or Masters level degree if teaching college-level courses
  • Three years of teaching experience within specific discipline is preferred
  • Non-expired teaching certification is required for Middle School and preferred for Upper School positions. First-time teachers may be asked to obtain certification/endorsement if deemed necessary and/or beneficial to the position
  • Knowledge of and experience with relevant technology
  • Solid biblical and theological foundation and understanding

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Seamlessly and deliberately integrate Biblical truth and Christian values into curriculum and instruction
  • Take an active role in ensuring the school’s effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues that must be addressed; providing pertinent information and commentary to deliberations; recommending options and courses of action; implementing directives
  • Establish and adjust course outlines and objectives by following curriculum guidelines and school goals; modifying plans on the basis of student diagnostic and assessment procedures
  • Convey information to students by using language concepts, examples, demonstrations, and teaching aids through such best practices utilizing the integration of technology with subject matter
  • Maintain student-learning results by providing instructional feedback; coaching; counseling, and disciplining students; planning, monitoring, and appraising learning results
  • Maintain records by documenting learning accomplishments, attendance, and behavior.
  • Consistently partner and communicate with parents in the shared desire of student growth and success by providing academic information, suggesting educational and social resources, and addressing parents’ concerns
  • Engage in ongoing communication and collaboration with Brook Hill team members in order to strengthen student performance and support
  • Participate in the broader ministry of Brook Hill by contributing time, talent and treasure beyond assigned role and responsibilities
  • Continue professional and technical growth by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional organizations
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required as it relates to the duties described
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head of School or a designee of the Head of School

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 25lbs at times.
  • Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to stand and traverse around a classroom, building, common area, etc. and adjust tone and height, by bending or leaning, in order to teach, engage, and interact with each student for extended periods of time.
